Hetauda Campus, under Institute of Forestry (IOF), Tribhuvan University (TU) has witnessed the history of Forestry education in Nepal which was began in 1947 in Kathmandu.

The then forestry training center was shifted to Bhimphedi of Makawanpur district in 1957 and again to Hetauda in 1965 after installing the physical facilities which was established by the joint effort of the Government of Nepal and Indian Aid Mission. In the beginning, the training organization was under Department of Forest. The institution was brought under the umbrella of Tribhuvan University in July 1972. Since then, Hetauda Campus – a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University - has remained as the center of forestry education in Nepal.

Currently,we are running four-year B. Sc. (Forestry); and two-year M. Sc. (Forestry)course for the aspiring students. The qualified faculty and dedicated staffs areworking hard to make a difference by creating a world class teaching andlearning environment at the college. A good support system for students is inplace to provide them the timely academic instruction, guidance, mentoring,opportunity of community works and extra curricular activities. With this,faculty and students are busy in conducting and participating in the teaching,learning, and research activities and to make the Campus a center of excellancefor forestry education in Nepal.

Weare, thus, together struggling to contribute to the community, nation andglobal community by producing the competent graduate students who can deal withthe issues of, inter alia, forestry,wildlife and protected area management, biodiversity conservation, watershedmanagement, climate change etc. 

Wehave a vision of making Hetauda Campus a center of forestry education andresearch. For this, we are committed to implement and materialize our plans andprograms with active support from and participation of students, faculty,staffs, academic community and all concerned stakeholders. 



Academic

M.Sc. (Forestry)

Since 2016, we have initiated the M.Sc degree in Forestry in order to maintain the highly demands of forestry professionals around the world.

Bachelor Degree Program

Students with I.Sc., TCL forestry, Diploma in Forestry, +2 Science, A-level or equivalent degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate can apply for admission into the Bachelor level program.

    The IOF-HC has a well-maintained separate auditorium building for different formal and informal academic and socio-cultural programs.

    Museum established to facilitate teaching, research and extension activities in forestry related disciplines.

    Library receives around 40 newsletters and journals of forestry and related fields.
